Dr B. R. Ambedkar helped write our Constitution. Let us follow the rules, respect everyone and be good citizens. Thank you. Jai Hind!
Constitution Day speech for Classes 4 and 5 (1 to 2 minutes)
Good morning, respected principal, teachers and my dear friends. Every game has rules that make it fair for all players. A country needs rules too, and India's rule book is our Constitution.
On 26 November 1949, the Constituent Assembly adopted the Constitution of India, and it came into force on 26 January 1950. Dr B. R. Ambedkar led the committee that drafted it, which is why we call him the chief architect of the Constitution.
Our Constitution gives us fundamental rights, like the right to equality, freedom of speech and the right to education. It also lists our fundamental duties, like respecting the national flag and protecting the environment.
Rights and duties go together. Let us enjoy our rights and do our duties with pride. Happy Constitution Day, and thank you.
Constitution Day speech for Classes 6 to 8 (2 to 3 minutes)
Good morning to our respected principal, teachers and fellow students. "We, the people of India." These are the first words of our Constitution, and they tell us something powerful: the Constitution does not belong to the government. It belongs to us.
On 26 November 1949, after nearly three years of debate, the Constituent Assembly adopted the Constitution. Led by Dr B. R. Ambedkar, its makers had to design rules for a country with many languages, religions and cultures, and they chose four values to hold it together: justice, liberty, equality and fraternity.
These values are not just for courtrooms. Justice is being fair when we pick teams. Liberty is the freedom to speak and ask questions in class. Equality is treating every classmate with the same respect. Fraternity is the feeling that we are all one family.
The Constitution also asks us to do our duties: to respect the flag and the anthem, protect public property and the environment, and develop a scientific temper. A Constitution is only as strong as the citizens who live by it. Let us be those citizens. Thank you.
