What the four areas mean

  • Confidence: how willing your child is to speak up, with family, guests and classmates.
  • Voice and clarity: whether others can hear and understand them easily.
  • English and vocabulary: how easily they find words and build full sentences.
  • Organising ideas: telling things in order, giving reasons and answering the actual question.

Every child grows at their own pace, and a quiet child is not a problem to fix. If your child is shy, our guide on helping a shy child speak up has gentle ideas. For a ready script to practise, try the self introduction maker.
