Short speech for Classes 1 to 3 (1 minute)

Good morning, everyone. Today is Armed Forces Flag Day. It is a day to say thank you to our soldiers.

Our Army guards the land, our Navy guards the sea and our Air Force guards the sky. They live far from their families to keep us safe.

Let us respect them and help their families. Jai Hind!

Speech for Classes 4 to 8 (2 minutes)

Good morning to our respected principal, teachers and friends. While we sit in our warm classrooms today, a soldier is standing guard on a snowy mountain, a sailor is at sea, and a pilot is ready to fly at a moment's notice.

Since 1949, India has observed 7 December as Armed Forces Flag Day to honour these brave men and women. On this day, citizens donate to the Armed Forces Flag Day Fund, and in return receive small flags in the colours of the Army, Navy and Air Force.

The money helps soldiers who have retired, the families of soldiers who gave their lives, and those who were injured while serving. It is our way of saying: you protected us, and now we will look after you.

We may not wear a uniform, but we can serve our country too, by being honest, disciplined and kind, and by respecting those who serve. Let us wear our flag with pride today. Jai Hind!
