Keep it short: 3 to 5 lines is plenty for UKG to Class 2. A clear, confident voice wins more marks than a long speech.

Costume tips that save time

  1. Use what you have at home: a white shirt for a doctor, a dupatta for a queen, a kurta for a leader.
  2. Add one clear prop: a stethoscope, a sword, a letter bag or a cardboard rocket.
  3. Make sure your child can walk and speak easily in the costume.
  4. Do one full practice in the costume before the day.

How to practise the dialogue

  1. Read the lines together, then let your child say them back one at a time.
  2. Add one action for each line, like a salute or a wave.
  3. Practise standing still, looking at the audience and smiling.
  4. Do a final run in front of family, with a bow at the end.

How to practise at home

  1. Choose a character your child likes; it's easier to speak as someone you admire.
  2. Practise for 5 minutes a day for a week.
  3. Record a practice and watch it together.
  4. Remind your child to speak slowly and loudly.
