On this day, people visit gurudwaras and eat langar together, sitting side by side. Let us be kind and share with others. Thank you.

Speech for Classes 4 to 8 (2 to 3 minutes)

Good morning to our respected principal, teachers and dear friends. Today we celebrate Guru Nanak Jayanti, the Prakash Utsav of Guru Nanak Dev Ji, who was born in 1469 in Talwandi, now Nankana Sahib.

Even as a child, Nanak asked deep questions. There is a well-known story that his father once gave him money to make a good bargain at the market. On the way, he met hungry holy men and spent all the money feeding them. He called it the truest bargain, a "sacha sauda".

Guru Nanak Dev Ji gave us three simple teachings. Naam Japna: remember God. Kirat Karni: earn an honest living. Vand Chakna: share with those in need. The langar, where everyone sits together and eats the same food, shows that no one is higher or lower.

As students, we can follow these teachings every day: by being honest in our work, by sharing with a friend who needs help, and by treating everyone with respect. Thank you.
